Mrs. Martha Horton, age 70 of Honaker, Virginia passed away Friday (January 16, 2015) at her home. Born January 24, 1944 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Earn Henry and Pearl Mae Street Shortt. A lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia, she had resided in Honaker for the past thirty-five years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ at Blackford, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Shortt and Lee McKinley Shortt.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Larry W. Horton of the home; two sons, Michael W. Horton and wife, Pamela of Richmond, Virginia and Shawn Matthew Horton of Lebanon, Virginia; two granddaughters, Heather Horton and Haleigh Horton both of Richmond, Virginia; three sisters, Maedean Owens and husband, Bill of Abingdon, Virginia, Virgie Clarke and husband, Joe of Battlecreek, Michigan and Patsy McKinney and husband, Paul of Sommersville, West Virginia; two brothers, Joe Shortt and wife, Patty of Honaker, Virginia and Pete Shortt and wife, Dawn of Grandview, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Shelby Miller and Betty Whited; her little best friend, “Teddy” and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hubbard and Rev. Arnold Street officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.
Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Sunday.
