Bobby Gene May, age 64, of Pikeville, Kentucky died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born in Pike County on June 18, 1950, the son of Ranel and Jettie Murphy May.
Bobby was of the Holiness faith, a retired coal miner, member of the United Mine Workers of America, member of the Thomas C. Cecil (375) Lodge, a member of El Hasa Shriners Temple and a Kentucky Colonel.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lynn Bartley and a very special loved niece, Michelle Thacker.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Zora Maynard May; daughter, Jocelyn (Joey) Tackett; son, Jonathan Randall "J.R." May; a loving grandson, Tyler Tackett; three sisters, Ruth Ann (Dean) Thacker, Betty (Johnny) Jones, Wanda (Garrett) Thacker; one brother, Roger Dale (Marie) May; and a host of friends and family.
Visitation will begin Sunday, January 18, 2015, at 6:00 PM at Thacker Memorial Funeral Home with a Masonic rites service at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held Monday, January 19, 2015, at 1:00 PM with Charles Justice officiating. Interment will then follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, KY.
Bobby will be greatly missed by all who knew and adored him.
Arrangements are under the direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home.
