Dorothy Mary “Billie” Jackson, 86, of San Diego died Sunday. She was born in San Diego.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Jackson; daughter, Dee Dee Bloom; sons, Bob Smedley, Steve Smedley and Ron Smedley; stepdaughter, Anita Lesch; stepsons, Marty Jackson and Michael Jackson; sisters, Margie Darby and Betty Blount; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Interment: 12:30 p.m. Monday,
Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego.

JACKSON, DOROTHY MARY (BILLIE)
Dorothy Mary "Billie" Jackson died peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at the age of 86, surrounded by members of her family. Billie was a native of San Diego, born to Alice and Joe Slack on January 2, 1921, and graduated from San Diego High School. She worked for many years as secretary to the Chancellor of the San Diego Community College District and to the president of Mesa College. Billie was a loving wife and mother. Throughout her life she maintained her great sense of humor, even in difficult times, which kept her spirit young and vibrant. She was never hesitant to express her opinions, and she found her greatest joy in the company of her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles "Bud" Jackson, her sisters, Margie Darby (Dick) and Betty Blount (Dave), sons Bob, Steve and Ron Smedley, daughter Dee Dee Bloom, stepsons Michael and Marty Jackson, stepdaughter Anita Lesch, grandchildren David Smedley, Shannyn Stern (Casey) and Zoe Smedley, great-grandson Spencer Smedley, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church, 15546 Pomerado Rd., Poway, CA on Monday, April 23, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., preceded by a Viewing at 9:45 a.m. A graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery will follow.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
