SWAINSBORO -- R.L. Smith, 56, died June 27 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Augusta.
He was a native of Emanuel County, served with the National Guard and retired from Bowen Transportation after 25 years. He was a member of Mount Shady Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary Scarboro Smith of Swainsboro; a son, Randall Smith of Alma; his mother, Winferd Smith of Swainsboro; three sisters, Katherine Riner and Jane Smith, both of Swainsboro, and Faye Sweat of New Jersey; and two brothers, Lonnie and Harrison Smith, both of Swainsboro.
