Alice Adams Moody, 93, of Amarillo died Wednesday, January 7, 2015.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in South Georgia Baptist Church with Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon.
Alice Adams Moody was born March 28, 1921, in Milam County to Robert Huel and Myrtle Violet Mosley Adams. She received her nursing degree from Shannon School of Nursing in San Angelo. She was preceded in death by her first husband, G.P. Touchstone. She married Lloyd Franklin Moody in 1962 and he also preceded her in death in 1987. Alice worked during World War II helping the war effort by making tents. She owned a nursing home in Waco for three years. She lived in Channing for more than 20 years where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Channing and moved to Amarillo in 2009. She became a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. She was a nurse for 31 years and a foster mom for 30 years. In 1995, she received 'Foster Parent of the Year' for the state of Texas. Alice enjoyed helping people and 'was a mother to many and a friend to all.'
She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Thomas Adams, William Adams, Roy Adams and Kathrine Hayes, and three sons, Thomas Ray Touchstone, William Robert Touchstone and Danny L. Moody.
Survivors include her daughter, Lecia Moody of Amarillo; a son, Joe Lee Touchstone of Beeville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114.
