Mrs. Hogenson was born Feb 27, 1844 in Sweden, the daughter of Mons and Christina Olsen Pearson. Her parents died when she was a girl and she moved to Denmark to "work out". While there she met Niels Hogenson and the two were married Oct. 24, 1870. They first lived in Denmark where three children were born. Becoming converted to the LDS faith on Feb 9, 1878, the family migrated to the United States in 1880, settling in Logan. After short stays in Logan, Petersboro, and Richmond, the family settled in Newton, where Mrs. Hogenson spent the remainder of her days. Mr. Hogenson died in 1886 of typhoid fever. The following children survive: Mrs. Amanda Hanson and Mrs. Christena Nelson, Newton; James Christian Hogenson, Logan; Peter Hogenson, Oregon. Two children, Joseph and Emma have died. Twenty-four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren survive.

Speakers who lauded the life of the deceased were Bishop W.H. Griffin, Jr. of Logan, Lorenzo Larson, President John E. Griffin, and Bishop M.C. Rigby. All told of her genial disposition, recalling the difficulties through which she had passed in raising her family alone after the death of her husband many years ago.
The choir sang three numbers and special selections were a vocal solo by Elnar Pederson and a duet by Hazel Rigby and Mrs. Norma Christensen. Prayers were by James A. Henson and R. Tuddenham.
Interment was in the Newton Cemetery.
