Mary Moore Jameson was born near Madison, Jefferson county, Indiana, April 29, 1829. Her ancestors were of Scoth descent, who came to America in 1700. Until she was 14 years of age, she lived on her father's farm, where she was born. In 1843 or 1844 she came with her brothers to Indianapolis, where she lived contiuously until coming to Montana in Nov. 1891.

She was married to Berry Robinson Sulgrove, a young lawyer, of Indianapolis, in 1853, and lived there until the death of her husband, Feb. 20, 1890, later coming to Montana and thence to Choteau in 1892, where she has since resided with her son, James. Her husband was an influential journalist of Indiana, being on the staff of Indianapolis Journal from 1854 to 1869, and thereafter with the Indianapolis News until his death in 1890. They had four children, all boys, two who were present at the funeral. She was the youngest of her family, two brothers in Indianapolis surviving her. At the time of her death she was aged 76 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Her love and duty to her family was the absorbing principle of a consistent Christian life.
