Ed Cook, 83 year old Buffalo man, passed away Thursday at the Johnson County Health Care Center following a short illness.

Edward Eugene Cook was born on September 20, 1931 in Gillette, Wyoming, to Leon and Nola Cook. He grew up south of Gillette, where he went to country schools. He attended Gillette High School and later moved to Clearmont, Wyoming when his parents purchased an irrigated farm. He was married on November 28th, 1953 to Dorothy Roebling in Clearmont, where they made their home. Following a divorce he was married to Caryl Best on December 3, 1977. In 1962, Ed took a job working for the Clearmont School District as a custodian, and in 1975 he moved to Buffalo where he continued as a custodian for the Johnson County School District. Ed worked for the school district until he retired and then continued living in Buffalo. Both Caryl and Dorothy passed away in 2006 and Ed continued living in Buffalo until his death.

Ed enjoyed camping and fishing at Lake DeSmet and was an active member of the Eagle Lodge Aerie 3030 and the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed woodworking and anything that took him outdoors. Ed will be remembered for his sense of humor and being the best bus driver the district had for basketball trips over the mountain.

He is survived by two sons David Cook and his wife Julie of Cheyenne and Richard Cook of Clearmont; one daughter Diana Spence of Cheyenne; two step-sons, Micheal Link and his wife Shelly of Buffalo and George Link of Casper; one step-daughter Thelma Kind of Denver; one sister Helen Mitchell of Sheridan; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his ex-wife.
