~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Russell L. Krichau, the son of Ruby (Reiter) and Maurice Krichau, was born November 10, 1924 near Hazard, Nebraska. He moved with his family as a young boy to the farm north of Bladen, where he attended rural school in Adams county and later graduated from the Bladen High School with the class of 1942.
On March 11, 1948 Russell was united in marriage with Delores Louise Karr. This union was blessed with two daughters, Diana and Cindy. Russell worked hard to provide for his family throughout the years, often working two jobs at once. He drove truck, worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot outside of Hastings, ran a dairy farm, worked at the Dutton-Lainson Company in Hastings, worked at the Cooperative Grain & Supply in the feed mill in Roseland and driving propane truck out of Blue Hill, but most of all he enjoyed his passion, which was farming the home place north of Bladen.
Russell took great joy in life’s simple pleasures and he was happiest being surrounded by his family, enjoying a home cooked meal, or watching a good ball game on TV. Kind hearted and gentle in spirit, Russell was always quick with a joke and even quicker with a “much obliged” if someone did him a favor. Even as his health failed him in his later years, he always maintained his positive outlook and told everyone he was doing “pretty good.”
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and her husband, Regina and Norman Karr; a brother-in-law Clayton Karr.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Delores; daughters Diana Wilson and husband Rob, and Cindy Pavelka and husband Keith; 4 granddaughters, Laci Dinkler and husband Scott, Amber Gibson and husband Wade, Kim Bonifas and husband Kevin, and Corissa Parr and husband Cory; 11 great grandchildren, Makayla, Morgan, Jacob and Janaya Dinkler, Lee and John Gibson, Samantha, Beau and Kinley Bonifas, and Elise and Brady Parr; brothers and sisters-in-law Betty Karr, Dever and Arlene Karr, and Ken and LaVeda Berns, and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., January 12, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Bladen with the Rev. Dan Albers officiating. Interment will be at the East Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud, and Monday, 8:00 a.m. to service time at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Bladen United Methodist Church or to the Bladen Fire & Rescue Squad.
