Fred grew up in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and many of his U.S. records incorrectly say he was born in Pennsylvania. His 7 siblings were: Daniel Thellman, stayed in Europe, John Thellman 1872-1948, Mary Thellman Weber Schuster 1877-?, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Thellman 1879-1970, Hermine "Minnie" Thellman Thellman 1881-1958, Ida Thellman Linder 1885-1945, Frieda Thellman Smith Miller 1887-1968.
Fred moved to Florida by 1917, and lived in Jacksonville for the rest of his life. In 1925, he married Myrtle Blair Briles, and had 2 children, Theone and Fred Jr.
He was a musician, working for the Arcade Theatre in 1917 and the bandleader of the Florida Boys' Band in 1933. In 1942, his copyright to the song "I'm proud to be an American", co-written with William Howard, was recorded in the book "Catalog of Copyright Entries: Musical compositions, Part 3" (Library of Congress, 1942). According to the 1930, 1935 (Florida) & 1940 censuses, he was also a real estate agent.
His burial location is unknown to me, but is probably in a Jacksonville cemetery.
