CONNERS, DOROTHY MAY - Dorothy May Conners (née Kimball), beloved wife of Percy Harold Conners, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 24, 2014 in Fredericton, NB. She was born in Royalton, NB on June 22, 1932. In her early years, she moved often with her father’s ministerial commitments throughout Maine, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick but spent the greatest amount of time in Royalton. At the age of only 19, she became a teacher of grades 1 to 8 at a one-room schoolhouse in Waterville, NB and later worked for the federal Employment Insurance Commission of Canada. A noted self-taught artist throughout her life, she displayed her work at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and was active in the Turps Art Club. A great lover of music, she played the piano until her last months of life and transmitted this love to subsequent generations. Above all, her greatest source of pride was her family who will fondly remember her remarkable strength, her sense of humour, her competitiveness, her creativity and her passion for life.
She is predeceased by her son Randal Duane Conners [Janet], nephew James Friedman and her parents, the Reverend Hollis Kimball and Stella (Mullen) Kimball. She is survived by son Larry Conners [Paula], daughter Judy (Conners) Bouma [Peter], and daughter Kimberly (Conners) Stillwell; siblings Hollis Kimball, Reginald Kimball [Betty], Marilyn (Kimball) Friedman [Stanton], Kenneth Kimball [Maureen], Carroll Kimball, Melba (Kimball) Joy [David], Maryella (Kimball) Banks [Ken], and Cheryl (Kimball) Thomas. She is also survived by grandchildren Shawn Conners, Jonathon Bouma, Robert (Gus) Conners, Hanni Bouma, Aaron Bouma, Matthew Conners, Andrew Conners and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 7 to 9 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB and funeral will be Monday December 29, 2014 at 2 pm at the Corbett Avenue Wesleyan Church with Rev.
