Brother to Skatti Bastet. He was one of two kittens thrown from a car window on a very busy 4 lane street. They landed between the wheels of the oncoming traffic. A man saw it, stopped and picked them up. I stopped and took them from him. I dropped they at my vet and went back to work. They were so sick and wet I could not tell what color they were. I thought Skatti was dead because he was so limp. Cadfael drug himself, with the last of his strength, in front of Skatti and tried to hiss. He had no voice but at least he tried to protect his brother. When they survived I brought two little scared black lumps home. My teenagers and I took turns feeding them every two hours around the clock and changing their bedding. They were too frightened of people to be put up for adoption. By the time they were ok with people they had become Murray cats and that was that. Cadfael sat on top of the fridge for two years and watched me love and kiss his brother. After two years he thought I was finally OK and I became HIS person. One day my husband came home and slapped me on the shoulder when he asked me how my day had been. Cadfael, sitting on the counter, reached out and tried to bite his elbow off. If anyone wonders if cats can be guard animals well yes, they can.My husband was careful how he touched me if Cadfael was close. Years later Cadfael would crawl in his lap at the counter. Husband said he wasn't about to move him or touch him down there. I think he was the one who one day tried for the Great Fish Caper. Hubby had the newspaper open and held up on the counter. I watched a little black paw ever so slowly (time might well as stopped it was so slow) creep toward the plate of tuna fish. He almost made it before he was caught. He and his brother were totally devoted to each other and truly loved each other. They both developed diabetes and despite the best care died from it. I miss them both.

THANK YOU DEAR SAFFRON WINGS FOR SPONSORING MY BELOVED CAFAEL. HE AND SKATTI WERE SPECIAL IN A WAY THAT IS HARD TO EXPLAIN AND ARE STILL VERY MISSED.YOUR KINDNESS IS SO APPRECIATED.
