Joshua Griffin was born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. March 22, 1785. He was the son of James and Sarah Griffin. He was married in Montgomery County, Georgia, march 24, 1820 to Elizabeth, born 1805 daughter of Thomas Bradford, R.S. To Joshua and Elizabeth Bradford Griffin were born 8 children.
1. Thomas (b. 1821); 2. Rebecca (b. 1823, married Green Young); 3. Susan A. (b. February 17, 1823, d. March 24, 1903, married John S. McKinney); 4. Scott M. (b. March 8, 1825, Irwin County, Georgia, d. 1894, Berrien County, Georgia, married Lydia May, daughter of Samuel C.); 5. Sarah (b. 1830); 6. Jacob B. (b. 1832, married 1st. Sarah luke, daughter of D.M. Luke, Jr., 2nd Mrs. Margaret Ann Overstreet, October 1, 1867, widow of William H. (nee McKinnon); 7. Lewis Lodge (Twin) (b. 1833, married Elizabeth Giddens, daughter of Fred); 8. Lucy Lodge (b. 1833, married Adam Joshua Crosby on December 16, 1851 in Lowndes County, Georgia). Joshua Griffin died about 1848 at his home in the southern part of Irwin County, Georgia, and was buried near Reedy Creek. The Griffin home-place was cut out of Irwin County into Berrien County in 1856. Elizabeth Bradford Griffin died about 1865.
