1932 - 2015

Salt Lake City, UT-Mimmie Violet Smith, sweet loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on January 4, 2015 from Alzheimer's surrounded by loved ones. Violet was born on April 9, 1932 in Murray, Utah to Erik Vilhelm Liljevall (Wall) and Mimmie Sofia Sedell and was very proud of her Swedish heritage. Violet was the sixth of seven children. She married Arvill Kenney Smith in Salt Lake City, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her husband and family. Violet was known for the beautiful quilts she made for every occasion. She especially enjoyed making quilts for children as she felt that "no child should be without a soft, warm blanket." Many of her quilts have made it to children around the world. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings and enjoyed serving others. Violet was loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her 6 children: Duane (Linda), Grantsville, Howard (Cathie), So. Jordan, Noel (Deb), Sandy, Paul (Diane), Sandy, Sherie (Kent) Danjanovich, St. George, Jill (Chris) Graham, Murray; sister, Laura Gillespie, Ogden. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 siblings, Erik, Ruby, Ruth, Alta and Janet, and 2 grandchildren, Chad Noel Smith and Natalie Danjanovich Labrum. A very special thank you to Karen Garriga for her tender, loving, and compassionate care given to Mom - truly our guardian angel.
