Emil Dubrawsky, 93, formerly of Hazleton, and a resident of Fox Run CCRC in Orchard Park, N.Y., passed comfortably and peaceably under Hospice care at Buffalo Mercy Hospital, N.Y.

Born in West Hazleton on Jan. 28, 1921, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary (Zelinko) Dubrawsky and was a 1938 graduate of West Hazleton High School, where he majored in the academic course of study.

An Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served as an APO Postmaster, Drill Sargent, cryptographer and entertainment specialist. His tour of duty included the African-Middle East Theater.

He was a member of the Air Force Memorial Airman’s Society, a charter member of the National World War II Museum, a member of VFW Post 15033 and the Orchard Park, N.Y. American Legion Post 0567.

Emil retired from the Chevrolet Buffalo Gear and Axle Plant where he was a production manager.

Emil was a fun-loving man who had a deep appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation. Much of his leisure time was spent enjoying football, hockey, music, and just being with family and friends.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents were his wife, Thelda (Walters) Dubrawsky; step-mother, Mary (Matuszkiewicz) Dubrawsky; brothers, Albert, Edward, Donald and Mitch Dubrawsky; and sister, Helen Strenk.
Surviving are his son, Wayne Dubrawsky and his wife, Linda, Orchard Park, N.Y.; daughters, Donna Mangano and her husband, Phil, Springville, N.Y.; and Joan Mariea and her husband, Don, East Concord, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kimberly Holland and her husband, Robert and Mark Mangano and his wife, Brandi; great-grandchildren, Alicia, Autumn, Talia and Nick Mangano and Aubrey and Emrey Holland. Also surviving are sisters, Dolores Roskos, Conyngham; Joan Yelito, Conyngham; and Shirely Manna, Tresckow.

Mr. Dubrawsky’s service will begin with prayers and a funeral procession leaving the Hazle Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 426 W. Broad St. in Hazleton, at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The service will continue at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Divine Liturgy in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, located at 20th and Wyoming Streets in Hazleton. Burial will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park at Hometown.
Friends may call at the Hazle Chapel this afternoon from 2 to 4 and evening 7 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Jerome, of St. John’s Church, will celebrate Parastas during the afternoon visiting hours.

The funeral of former Hazleton resident, Emil Dubrawsky, who died Thursday in Buffalo N.Y. was held Tuesday from the Hazel Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerome OFM, closed the visitation period at the funeral home with prayers before traveling to Sta. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church Hazleton, to celebrate a Funeral Divine Liturgy. Jerome also offered final prayers of committal as he sealed the grave in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.

Paqllbearers were: Don Mariea, Rob Holland, Mark Mangano, Nick Mangano, James Whiteley and James Manna.
Military rites were accorded at the grave by Ameriscan Legion Post 795 of Drums. Members in attendance were: John Hodgson, Walter James, Stan Jones, Lawrence Kelly, John Nesgoda, Robert Ray, Ronald Richaerdson, Floyd Roby, John Simoson and David Yeager.
