He was born May 19, 1928, on the family farm in Maplewood, the son of Albert and Melina (Splinger) Delsart. Raymond attended school in Algoma. He served his country with the United States Army during WWII. Raymond was united in marriage to Ellen Alice Rex on January 19, 1952. They shared over 61 years of marriage. Ellen preceded Raymond in death on March 27, 2013.
Throughout the course of his life, Raymond worked for Beemster Electric in Green Bay, Christi Corp. in Sturgeon Bay while simultaneously working at the family farm in Sevastopol, and later was self-employed as an electrical contractor.
He will be remembered for being a tinkerer and an inventor. Raymond loved going to parades and wearing his Hee Haw suit while attending. He also liked traveling and going to bluegrass shows.
Raymond is survived by 14 children [and their families], Dianne (Gregory) Bojko [and their children, Anthony, Timothy, Jeremy], Carol Grimstad [and her son, Eric], Dennis (Nancy) Delsart [and their children, Autumn, Nathan, Meghan, Alyssa], Sally (William) Kostka [and their children, Gina (Joe) Glennon, William (Emily)], Nancy (special friend, Thomas Tice) Delsart, Roger (special friend, Mary Franklin) Delsart [and their children, Melissa Church, Lucas], Jeffrey Delsart, Patti (special friend, Robert Florence), Randall Delsart, Jill (Mark) Cote [and their children, Nicholas, Brandon], Sharon (Dr. J. G.) Moellendorf [and their children, Pamela (Richard) Hensgen, Matthew], Todd Delsart, Joan Delsart, Tammy (Colin) Barton; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ken Delsart; two sisters, Joyce Albert, Fern Schenkelberg; two sisters-in-law, Suzanne Rex, Alice (Edward) Dehos; nephews; and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ellen; son, Glen John; twin-daughters, Tina, Tracey; granddaughter, Kandy Ann Kostka; six brothers, Gordon, Leonard, Roy, Richard, Clifford, Millard; five sisters, Ruby, Lillian, Labelle, Violet, Pearl; son-in-law, Glen Eugene Grimstad, Jr.; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2015, at HUEHNS Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Military honors by the United States Army and AMVETS Post 51 will follow at the funeral home. Raymond will be laid to rest in St. John Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Valmy.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at HUEHNS Funeral Home with a devotion to be held at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
