Charles J. Braun, Victoria, 79, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Wichita Speciality Hospital, Wichita. He was born July 22, 1927, in Victoria to Raymond P. and Agnes (Staab) Braun.

He married Lucille G. (Meyer) on Jan. 26, 1950, in Salida, Colo. She preceded him in death Dec. 18, 1996.

He later married Lillian A. (Dunmire) on Feb. 14, 1998, in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2003.

He was a Army veteran, serving during World War II. He owned and operated B & H Insulation Co. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1751, all of Victoria. He was a member of Shooting Stars Singles Square Dance Club, Fort Hays Stamp Club, the Gospel Singers and the Sing Along Group.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Braun and wife, Roberta, Centennial, Colo., Ronald Braun, Aurora, Colo., and Patrick Braun and wife, Barbara, Clarkson, Wash.; three daughters, Connie Schmeidler, Hays, Roberta Thedinga and husband, Rick, Omaha, Neb., and Tina McKelvey and husband, Greg, Las Vegas; two brothers, John Braun and wife, Josie, Victoria, and Albert Braun and wife, Stella, Hays; three sisters, Clara Baier, Tacoma, Wash., Fidelia Honas and husband, Eddie, Ellis, and Theresa Kuhn, Victoria; a brother-in-law, Clarence Leiker, Hutchinson.

Also surviving, 15 grandchildren, Leslie Gardner, Brian Braun, Rebecca Braun, Kimberly Schmeidler, Brent Schmeidler, Hannah Braun, Nathanael Braun, Brandi Braun, Dakotah Braun, Jennifer Thedinga, Michael Thedinga, Andrew Thedinga, Christopher Thedinga, Taylor McKelvey and Nick McKelvey; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Braun; two sisters, Irene Leiker and Lillian Braun.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, with military honors by Victoria VFW Post No. 1751. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday, both at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria. A vigil service is at 7 pm Wednesday, followed by a Knights of Columbus and VFW rosary at 7:30 p.m., both at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria VFW or Masses, in care of the mortuary.
