Sarah "Fern" Hanna Dunbar, 82, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at her home in Leavittsburg.

She was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Wirt County, W.Va., the daughter of George and Ollie Hanna. Fern grew up in Wirt County.

She graduated from Wirt County Schools in 1949. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker for the rest of her life. She loved her own children and cared for many other children in and around her neighborhood.

Fern married Joseph Dunbar on April 26, 1953, in Reedy, W.Va. They were happily married for 61 years.

Fern enjoyed writing and reading poetry and loved animals. She also loved baking and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Fern is survived by her spouse Joseph Dunbar of Leavittsburg; her sisters, Floda Amburgey and Darlene Cottrell; her children, Darlene Leftheris, James Dunbar and Joseph Dunbar Jr.; and her eight adoring grandchildren.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents George and Ollie Hanna, brother Warden Hanna and sister Faye Dunbar.
