Kathryn Gage McAfee died Wednesday at Harkness Pavilion, Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City,.after a long illness, She was 65 years old and lived at "Stoneleigh", Hudson, New graduated from Corsicana High School in 1925, from Southern Methodist University in 1928 (B.A.) and Columbia University in 1929 (MA.)
She was active in many charities in New York City and Westchester County for a long period of time. For many years she was director and vice president of the Youth Consultation Service, Diocese of New York. In 1958, she was instrumental in reviving the Y.C.S. Mistletoe Debutantc Ball and served as chairman, and later as honorary chairman.
Mrs. McAfee was one of the organizers and original directors of the Adoption Service of Westchester County, Director of S. Faith House, Tarrytown, New York and served as its president, member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Garden Club of Irvington-on-Hudson, Texas Club and Ardsly County Club.
She is survived by her husband, Horace J. McAfee, senior member of Simpson, Thatcher and Bartlett, New York City, a daughter, Mrs. James N. Baxter, two sons, William Gage McAfee and Stuart Reeves McAfee, Two grandchildren and her father, William Worth Gage, Corsicana.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Irvington-on-Hudson, New York.
The family suggests memorials in the form of a contribution to Cancer Care, Inc. or Youth Consultation Service of the Diocese of New York.
