Johnnie Franklin Beasley, 71, of Charlotte, died December 30, 2014, at the CMC hospital in Pineville.

Johnnie was born in Marlboro County, SC, on March 29, 1943, the son of William Benjamin Beasley and Bertie Pickett. After school he answered his country's call to service and honorably served in the United States Navy from August 22, 1961 until August 21, 1965. Upon an honorable discharge, he spent time traveling and visiting his family.

Working at Trailways in Charlotte, he met Elizabeth Sue Shrader, a fellow coworker, and on April 26, 1970, they used their lunch break to get married. They were married almost 37 years before she preceded him in death. John also worked for Rexham Corporation for 19 years before spending the last 10 years as a customer service specialist for Wal-Mart at the Arboretum.

John enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and especially loved trivia. He and his daughter, Crystal, loved to spend time together doing trivia contests. When at home, John enjoyed cooking and would love having people over to eat. He could entertain all with his stories and his past experiences lent for many. Most of all, John loved his family and friends, making them feel comfortable and welcome, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his daughter, Crystal, of Charlotte; a sister, Joyce "Duck" Beasley Adams (husband Herman Adams Jr) of Garner, NC; a brother, Willie Hamer Beasley of Charlotte; sister-in-law Barbra Farr Beasley of Smithfield, NC. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sue; brothers, James Douglas "JD", Marvin Perry, Jackie Pickett, and Elmer Bruce Beasley; a sister, Shirley Beasley Adams.

In honor of John's service to us and to his country, a committal service is being planned at Salisbury National Cemetery with date and time to be announced.

Memorials in John's name gratefully appreciated to the family or donation to a charity of their choice. Thank you for keeping the family in thought, prayer, and for your acts of kindness. Those done and those yet to be are deeply appreciated.
