"Mawmaw" was a wonderful, caring, Southern lady. She held the family together. Each Sunday we would gather around her kitchen table to a delicious meal prepared from scratch. She would make the grandchildren baby biscuits and would allow us to help, too, making the biggest mess in the world. Of course, ours never turned out quite like hers.
One of my fondest memories is of a Halloween not long before she died. We showed up at her house to treat or treat and she was dressed with tons of her Avon make-up and jewelry. It was hysterically funny to see Mawmaw dressed like that.
Also, when I think of her, I think of yellow roses. She loved them. Her funeral flowers were yellow roses.
