HAMPTON - Reva Gay Smoot, 78, died on Monday, June 12, 1995. She was born in Lenoir, N.C., and was a Hampton resident for over 50 years.

She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton, its Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. She was the widow of the late Earl Roy Smoot Sr.

She is survived by her son, E. Roy Smoot of Hampton; two daughters, Barbara A. Hargus of Hampton and Shirley Lou Bush of Huntsville, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Martha Bass of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Claude Austin of Lenoir, N.C., and Guy Austin of Ephrata, Wash.; a sister, Elsie Sanders of Lenoir, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Verna Wagner of Lenoir, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, 1995, by Rev. Don Harvey and Dr. Buddy Rosser. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home on Thursday, June 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and at other times will be at the home of Roy Smoot.
