DANVILLE, Va. - Jimmie (Jim) Wells, 94, formerly of 1356 College Park Ext., died Thursday, August 18, 2005 in Beverly Health Care Center in Martinsville. He had been in declining health for several years and in Beverly Health Care for seven years.
Born April 13, 1911, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Joseph Wells and the late Julia Kirks Wells.
He had lived all of his life in Danville and surrounding areas. He retired from Dan River, Inc. with 34 years of service, working in the former Riverside Division #8 Weave Room. He was of the Baptist faith.
He married the late Cora Lee Wyatt Wells in November of 1934. She died April 17, 2002.
He is survived by one daughter, Margaret W. Hall of Martinsville; three brothers, Clarence Wells and Clifton Wells, both of Axton and Joe Wells of Danville; one sister, Ruth W. Barker of North Carolina; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one son, Jimmie N. Wells Jr.; and two sisters, Lilie W. Manning and Lizzie W. Manning.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at Highland Burial Park with the Rev. Dr. Stanley Gravely officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel.
