George "Leo" Foster, 90, of Winston-Salem, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 16, 2014. He was born January 21, 1924 in Yadkin County to George Kimbrough and Cora Mitchell Foster. Mr. Foster graduated from Clemmons H.S. in 1941. He then served with the Fourth Marine Division during WWII. He retired from AT&T in 1984 with 38 ½ years of service. After retiring, he enjoyed playing Dobro and singing with local bluegrass bands at area rest homes and other gatherings. In 1947 he married Helen Nifong, his beloved wife of 53 ½ years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, James Lee Foster; granddaughter, Heather Sivilla; sisters, Ethel Foster Taylor, Mary Ellen Foster Anderson, Mozelle Foster Hall, and Velma Mae Foster; and brothers, William Thomas Foster and Grover "G.K." Kimbrough Foster. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca Foster Sivilla and husband Art; grandchildren, Michael Sivilla and Kimberly Sivilla of Florida; son, David Foster and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Krysta Foster and Amie Ferguson and husband Scott; great grandchildren, Olivia and Gavin Ferguson of Kernersville; a sister-in-law, Margaret Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
