Deaths.
Hilyard - Friday July 7, 1905, at 1 o'clock p.m. at the home of her son, Cal Hilyard's, northeast of Severy, Mrs. America Morris Hilyard at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 25 days.
The deceased was born in Greenberry county, Virginia, Dec. 12, 1823. When a child she moved with her parents to Sangamon county, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. She was married to J.P. Hilyard, at Sangamon county, Nov. 25, 1841. To this union fifteen children were born, eight of whom still survive her, seven boys and one daughter. Morris, Achillis, William and Edorn live at Severy; Margaret, Joseph and Manford live in Oklahoma, and Jarret lives at Independence, Kansas.
Funeral services were held at the home of Cal Hilyard Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Everett, after which the remains were interred in Twin Groves cemetery beside the remains of the husband who died a few years ago.
Mrs. Hilyard was one of the oldest settlers in this county and a lot of the old friends and neighbors attended the funeral.
