Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Helen T. Kruchten, 83, of St. Cloud, who died Dec. 31, 2014. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Inurnment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday and 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Friday at the Church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Helen was born on February 7, 1931 in St. Cloud, to Herman and Catherine (Meyer) Faust. She married Harvey Kruchten on December 29, 1951 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. They lived in Whippany, New Jersey, Baltimore, Maryland, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until returning to St. Cloud in 1990.
Helen volunteered at Catholic Charities Food Shelf, nursing homes in Waukesha, Wisconsin, St. Benedict's Center, and Meals on Wheels. Helen was an avid bowler, active in local leagues wherever she lived. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her personality and quick wit will be missed.
Helen is survived by: husband Harvey; children Deborah (Paul) Hamay of Wake VI, David of Waukesha, WI, Carie (Brian) Zuelsdorf of Waukesha, WI; 8 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Regina Lahr of Sartell and Ginny Lahr of St. Cloud.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers and sisters Evelyn Patton, Wilhelmina "Pete" Butler, Bill, Dick, Hildegard Prokasch, Rita Fortier, Lorraine Bielejeski, Herman Jr., Margaret Heinen and Rhinert.
Special thanks to the Good Shepherd Community and St. Croix Hospice staffs for the extraordinary care Helen and her family received during Helen's last few months.
