Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Katherine Klitch Hauptly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Andrews; and her first husband, Junior Brooks Dengler.
She was employed as a postal carrier in Souderton for many years prior to her retirement in 1997. She was previously employed as a telephone operator for Towne Answering Service in Souderton and also delivered The Reporter newspaper.
Laura was fiercely independent. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, butterflies and swimming, but her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren who fondly called her Nana.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Weiss and Sister Alfredine Hauptly; two brothers, Bill Hauptly and Gerald Hauptly; and son-in-law, Steven Joseph.
She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Joseph, Richlandtown, Karen Stover and her husband, Scott, Harleysville, and Christine Knechel and her husband, Kim, Souderton; two sons, Gregory Dengler and his wife, Susan, Quakertown, and Paul Dengler and his wife, Amy, Nashville, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maria Plasha and her husband, Russell, Sinking Springs, Rose Schaffer, Baltimore, Md., and Agnes Weber, Texas; a brother, Gov Hauptly, Pottsville; and extended family and friends who warmly referred to her as "Mom."
Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 69 W. Broad St., Souderton. Interment was in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville. Arrangements were by Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, Telford. Visit www.sadlersuessfuneralhome.net.
