Gene O. Loos, 74 of Marshfield died on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Stoney River Assisted Living in Marshfield after his courageous 7 year battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Savarimuthu Selvalaj officiating. Sacred Heart Funeral Choir will provide the music for the services. Burial will be Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post # 54 of Marshfield. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Bishop, Gary Braun, Dale Wolfe, Jim Rakovec, Jerry Seitz, Paul Ott and Cal Tysver.

Visitations will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30am until service time. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gene was born in Chili on April 3, 1940 to Oscar and Hannah (Dankemeyer). He graduated from Granton High School and enlisted in the United State Army. He served from September 18, 1958 until his honorable discharge on September 15, 1961. After his military service, he worked at Pathfinder Mobile Homes in Spencer until 1973. Then he began work at Reigel Plumbing for 35 years. Gene enjoyed spending everyday with Benton and Amabel. Family was one of the most important things to him. He spent as much time as he could over the years with his family and especially his grandkids.

He was united in marriage to Joann Katzenberger in 1966 and later divorced. He then married Judy A. Walton on July 15, 1994 in Iowa.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fraternal Oder of Eagles and Honorary Life member Knights of Columbus.

Gene is survived by his wife Judy, children Kim (Chuck) Schalow of Marshfield, Brad (Amanda) Loos of Marshfield, step children Kim (Cliff) Eckes of Marshfield and Steve Walton of Durand; 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Megan and Melissa Schalow, Benton and Amabel Loos; 3 step grandchildren, Brandon (Lesley) Duellman, Alex and Zoey Eckes all of Marshfield and 2 step great grandchildren, Haylen and Brantley. He is further survived by a sister Caroline Emerich of CA, 3 brothers, Harley Loos of Chili, Gary (Kathy) of Florence, AZ and Lloyd Loos of Coolidge, AZ.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Donald “Joe”, Everett and Alvin Loos; sister-in-law Elaine Loos and a brother-in-law Carl Emerich.
