He died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at his home, under the care of Grace Community Hospice, with his family by his side. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, under the direction of Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville.
Mr. Evans was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Glen Allan, to Jay S. Evans and Audie Berry Evans. He married Lorraine J. Spence Evans on March 7, 1959, in Virginia City, Nev. They moved to Greenville from Fort Gordon, Ga., in 1962. He was a retired tool and die maker and was also a faithful member of Riverport Baptist Church, Greenville.
He leaves behind his wife, Lorrie and his daughter, Tammy Evans Boykin and 3 grandsons, Buddy Permenter,Sammy Permenter,Robby Permenter and 1 grandaughter, Casey Boykin Rushing..3 great grandchildren...Katie Michelle Permenter, Rainey Nicole Permenter, Sean Jay Permenter and a host of Niece's and Nephew's..Also, a sister, Scharlotte Naron and her husband Bobby Dean, from California. A brother, Lamar Evans and wife Shirley from Greenville, Ms. and another brother, Howard Evans from Tennessee..
