ALSTON, Reba A., 84, of Manteo, N.C., died on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Chesapeake General Hospital. She retired from the C & P Telephone Company with 34 years of service as a business office supervisor. Reba was born on April 10, 1930 in Roxobel, N.C. to the late William and Mary Vaughn Acree. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leon Newby Alston, who was born on April 10, 1929 in Powellsville, N.C.; a brother, John Q. Acree of Nags Head, N.C.; a sister, Emily Acree Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne E. Acree of Nags Head, N.C. Reba is survived by two brothers-in-law, Leonard Everette Smith and Joseph W. Alston and wife, Berena of Wallace, N.C.; two nieces, Deborah Sneller of Richmond, Va. and Phyllis Smith of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five nephews, Don Acree of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C., Doug Acree of Richmond, Va., Jack Acree of Gardiner, N.Y. and Greg and Derek Alston of Wallace, N.C. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Manteo Baptist Church with The Rev. Ken Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Manteo Baptist Church, P.O. Box 670, Manteo, N.C. 27954.
