He was born Oct. 13, 1939 south of Fairmount to William D. and Inez Fern McNeese Alexander. Fred married Karen Lutz on July 5, 1975 in Danville. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Brian (Lynda) Alexander and Freddie (Dawn) Alexander; one stepson, Blue Lutz; four daughters, Mindy Alexander, Missy (Randy) Nelson, Tammy Alexander and Spring (Eric) Riggle; one stepdaughter, Michelle (Bryan) Obenland; one brother, James (Shirley) Alexander; one sister, Betty Salladay; one sister-in-law, Jinny Alexander; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bill and Clifford; a brother-in-law, Jim Salladay and a sister-in-law, Patty Alexander.
Fred had been a concrete mason with Salladay Construction for 20 years and drove his own semi truck for 25 years.
