Funeral services were held for Herman Bellin on Thursday, March 9th, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hankinson, the Rev. G. C. Michael, Pastor, being in charge of the service. Interment was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Belford Township. Mr. Bellin had died Saturday morning, March 4th, at Wahpeton.
Herman Bellin was born in Germany, Dec. 7th, 1862, coming to America at the age of seven, locating in the state of Minnesota. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1878, at St. Paul. He moved to Richland County, North Dakota during the eighties of the last century.
Mr. Bellin was married to Mrs. Friederike Pankow, nee Bladow, September 22nd, 1891, in Brandenburg Township, by the sainted Rev. T. Hinck. He farmed for many years in this territory. In 1924 he moved to Hankinson with his wife. She preceded him in death, May 14th, 1936. To their union eight children were born, of whom one daughter died during the influenza epidemic of 1918.
Mr. Bellin is survived by the following children, William and Herbert, both of Hankinson, Theodore of Portland, OR., Edward of Aberdeen, SD., Mrs. George Schultz of Hankinson, Lillian of Wahpeton, Anne of Rochester, MN, and by the following children of Mrs. Bellin's first marriage, Edwin Pankow of Hankinson, Mrs. Martha Paape of Wahpeton, and Mrs. Albert Hoefs of Hankinson. He attained the age of 87 years, 2 months and 29 days.
