Ruth Hulsey Miller, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2014. She was born Ruth Phillips in Monticello, Arkansas on June 7, 1928. While she was still a child, her and her family moved to Monroe, Louisiana. She attended Neville High School where she was crowned Homecoming Queen and met her future husband Herlin Hulsey. They were married over 35 years and had three children. They lived in Louisiana in the cities of Bastrop and Lafayette; she and her family also lived in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Scottsboro in the state of Alabama; the family finally made it to Texas, first in Houston before settling in Austin.

Ruth retired from the Governor's Office, Criminal Justice Division after 30 years of exceptional service. After Herlin passed away, she married Ned Miller. They enjoyed their retirement by travelling extensively and living life to its fullest. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother sharing her sense of humor, kindness and respect for others. She will forever be in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents OB and CB Phillips, her brother Aubrey Phillips and her husband Ned Miller.

She is survived by her son Jeff Hulsey and his wife Robin of Pflugerville, Texas; her daughter Dede and her husband Jess Koslan of Granger, Texas; and her daughter Kim and her husband Lew Tucker of Cullman, Alabama. She had seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services will be held at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks located at 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the celebration of Ruth's wonderful life.
