Steven Lee Piper, age 58, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Friday evening, December 19, 2014 at his residence.

Steven was born October 11, 1956 in Wisconsin Rapids to Milton and Eleanore (Karlstedt) Piper. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and Mid-State Technical College. As a young boy he cleaned the baseball fields with his father and grandfather. He enjoyed working at his church, playing baseball, working in the garden, watching the Packers, and hunting. Throughout his life, Steven worked for Murray Machinery, Inc. of Wausau, Proshak Machine Company, Weyerhaeuser, Graham Manufacturing, and Figis of Marshfield. In 1985, he moved to Wisconsin Rapids where he worked at Wisconsin Valley Concrete for the next 20 years.

He married the love of his life, Karen Mann, on September 6, 1980 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. He was a life-long member of Calvary and enjoyed the encouragement and love he found within his church family. Karen and Steven were blessed with 34 years of marriage together.

Steven is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Becky (Charles) Walters, and Angie Piper, both of Wisconsin Rapids; mother, Eleanore Piper of Wisconsin Rapids; sister, Debra (David) Kuschel, of Wisconsin Rapids; nieces Katie Kuschel and Kari Kuschel, both of Wisconsin Rapids; two great-nieces and one great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Piper, and a sister, Linda Lou Piper.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church at 11 A.M. Pastor Jack Austin and Pastor Jon Jenks will be the officiants. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank Deb and Liz, at the Wound Clinic for showing great respect and empathy towards Steven. He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
