She was born in Ellenburg on September 1, 1931 the daughter of William and Mary Jane (Jarvis) LaClair.
Margaret married her husband William Van Nortwick on December 22, 1951 in St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake, and raised 10 children.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite saying was recycle and reuse she was the first to volunteer to collect items to repair and reuse for others.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Shirley Van Nortwick, Don Juan Van Nortwick, Philip and Beth Van Nortwick, Timothy and Tammy Van Nortwick; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Colwell, Joan Van Nortwick and her companion Kerry, Christina Provost, Angela and Terry Forgette, Gemma and Mark Orzach; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Sylvester and Joyce LaClair, Francis and Dee LaClair, Richard LaClair, Anthony and Mary Jane laClair; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Robert Titus, Katherine and John Henderson, Veronica and Norm Tatro; Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, husband William Van Nortwick, daughter Alice Marie Thueson, siblings Donald LaClair, Cecelia Labombard, Leonard LaClair and Elizabeth Harris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday December 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in West Chazy. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country.
