Robert R. Webber, 76, of Bloomington, a retired banker, died at 9:35 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8, 1994) at his residence. He had been ill.

Mr. Webber was born Feb. 28, 1918 in Arrowsmith, a son of Raymond and Litta Richardson Webber. He married June Gathman Nov. 11, 1945 at Arrowsmith. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Richard Webber, Lynn Webber and David Webber; one sister, Dorothy Brucker; one brother, Warren Webber and two grandchildren.

After graduation from Brown's Business College, Mr. Webber worked for Thomas Payne Real Estate and Insurance Co. of Normal. Later he was a court reporter under Judge Homer Hall for McLean County Court.

In 1941, he was drafted into the Army and served 4 years during World War II. While stationed in the Philippines, he was awarded the Bronze Star.

Upon returning from the war, Mr. Webber went to work for the National Bank of Bloomington and retired as vice president in charge of operations after 32 years. He also served as president of the Arrowsmith State Bank for 30 years.

He was a long-time member of Centennial Christian Church, Bloomington. During those years he held many different offices and at his death was an elder emeritus and trustee.

Mr. Webber had served a number of years as a committeeman for Troop 12 Boy Scouts in Bloomington. He had served three four-year terms on the board of the Kennedy Memorial Homes, Martinsville, Ind., a unit of the National Benevolent Association Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

He was a former member of Bloomington Planning Commission and a member of the Disciples Amateur Radio Society, the Louis E. Davis Post 56 American Legion and Bloomington Elks Lodge 281.

Mr. Webber enjoyed amateur radio and to travel. He had been in all 50 states and many foreign countries.
