Marylin Marie Lif, 84, of Grand Island died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at Edgewood Vista in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Matt Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lif was born July 18, 1930, in Alliance to John H. and Ruby I. (Schutt) Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, and a son, David L. Lif.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Lif and Carrie and Cliff Beacom, all of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Barbara Lif of St. Libory and Dean and Ann Lif of Lincoln; three sisters, LaVonne Hansen, Karen Alcorn and Beverly Darnall; and a brother, John Ellis.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Susanne (Joshua) Cramer, Andrew Beckstrom, Erik (Selmira) Beckstrom, Kayla Beckstrom, Adam Lif and Christopher Lif; three stepgrandchildren, Alicia, Aaron and Allison Beacom; and a great-granddaughter, Lyla Cramer.
Marylin grew up and received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Maynard A. Lif on Oct. 8, 1950, in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island, where she worked at the Capitol, Grand and Drive-In theaters before becoming a full-time homemaker.
Marylin was an active member of the Methodist church for over 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the VAIR program at Newell and Howard elementary schools, as well as the PTA. She also was a past local and state president of the United Commercial Travelers of America. Marylin enjoyed quilting, crocheting, embroidery and other crafts. She also loved birds and enjoyed her collection of pet birds. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marylin was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dewayne Ellis; and a sister, Linda Eilts.
