Jimmy Dean 'Jim' Crawford was born the first son of George Washington Crawford and Virginia Arana (Harrison) Crawford on September 6, 1938, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life December 24, 2014, at West Vue Nursing Home in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

He was united in marriage to Birdie Lavaughn Adams on August 18, 1956 at Thayer Free Will Baptist Church and to this union three children were born.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Sis Crawford of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one daughter, Cindy Ingalsbe and husband, Kelvin of Ozark, Missouri; one son, Calvin Crawford and wife, Rebecca of Thayer, Missouri; six grandchildren, Tracey Roussell and husband, Mike, and Eric Trobaugh and wife, Brandi, all of Ozark, Cullen Crawford, Arana Crawford, Allayna Crawford, and Cale Crawford, all of Thayer; seven great grandchildren, Wyatt Trobaugh, Launa Trobaugh, Devin Trobaugh, Leita Trobaugh, all of Ozark, Macey Roussell and twins, Elliana and Delaney Roussell, all of Ozark; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Monty Eugene Crawford; his parents, George and Virginia Crawford; two brothers, Robert Eugene Crawford and wife, Ramona, and John Darrell Crawford and wife, Linda; his maternal grandparents, Griff and Rosie (Palmer) Harrison; his paternal grandparents, John Jackson and Minerva (Risner) Crawford; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim was a life long resident of Oregon County. He was a cowboy at heart; riding bucking horses and bulls on the rodeo circuit as a young man. After settling down, he and Sis owned and operated a successful cattle ranch operation. When ask, Jim always said his favorite hobby was working on his ranch.

Jim worked as a brakeman for Frisco Railroad twelve years before becoming disabled.

He was an active member of the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church, attending as long as health permitted.

Jim will be remembered by family and friends for his strong determination, even in the midst of his trials of life. He was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be missed by all.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Thayer Free Will Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Richard Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, December 27th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer.

Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery at Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Gideons International and may be left at the Funeral Home.
