Taylor, born July 5, 1925, in Franklin, Tenn., to the late Leonard Parks Brittain and Mary Emily Beasley Brittain, was a graduate of Ward Belmont Prep School and Ward Belmont Junior College in Nashville, Tenn. She was active in the Como United Methodist Church serving on the Altar Guild. Other clubs she participated in were the Como Home and Garden Club, the Como Study Club Friends of the Library and the James Gilliam Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1988, she and Meg Bartlett of Como started Homeplace Products, a business to distribute gourmet sauces, relished and preserves made from old family recipes.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Frederick Ward "Straw" Taylor Jr.; six children, Emily Marie "Kandy" Taylor Myhre of Grover Beach, Calif., Alberta Meriwerther Taylor Cline of Winchester, Va., Frederick Ward Taylor III of Senatobia, Leonard Brittain Taylor of Oakland, Tenn., Nancy Beasley Taylor Breen of Hilton Head, S.C., William James Taylor of San Francisco, Calif. and nine grandchildren. Additional survivors include two brothers, Leonard Parkes Brittain Jr. of Nashville, Tenn. and William Oliver Brittain of Louisville, KY.
