"Leonard Parkes Brittain was the mail carrier of Route One. He and his brother Clair were both born in Williamson County. His father O.R. Brittain was born at Riggs Cross Roads. His mother, Minnie Parks Brittain, was a native of Lynchburg. He finished Battle Ground Academy in 1914. He was in the military, and after discharge he and Clair ran a creamery business until he entered the postal service in 1920. He married Mary Emily Beasley in 1920 [3 Jul 1920, Williamson County] and they had three children, Leonard Jr., Frances and William. He served as deacon in the Church of Christ and on the board of directors of the Tennessee Orphans Home stationed in Spring Hill, TN.
