Son of Julia Zegarchuk, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.


One of a seven man crew that took off at 21:05 from RAF Witchford, Cambridgeshire on the 24th April, 1944, in a Avro - Lancaster I - S/No. HK542 for a bombing raid on Karlsruhe, South West Germany.

After take off nothing further was heard and the aircraft was reported as missing, it was later established that the aircraft, had been shot down by a night fighter between Wolfe and Paradijs about 6 Miles Northeast of St Trond, Belgium.

Sgt. John Frederick PLUMMER – S/No. 1606785 – Flight Engineer – RAFVR

 

There were no survivors and they are all buried in the Heverlee War Cemetery.
