Born 20 May 1920, son of Harry Green, former organist of Inverurie South Church and Mrs G Green. In his third year he won first prizes for English and Science and was first in his class. He was a member of Thistle Boxing Club and the Boys' Brigade. While still a pupil at RGC, he tried the RAF examination, and, on gaining a place, went to training school where he was head boy during the two latter years of his apprenticeship. He passed out as ACI at the beginning of the war and became LAC two months later. A year later, he was made Corporal and in the following year, Sergeant. When the rank of Flight Engineer was instituted, he volunteered at once for flying duties and passed out first in the course for Flight Engineer. He was posted to Bomber Command in July, 1942 and became a Flight Sergeant shortly afterward. He was only 21 years of age at the date of his death. He was lost during an operational flight over Germany.
