Mrs. Gertrude Fisher was born June 10, 1934, the daughter of Steve and Mary Schmidt, of Millerville. She grew to young womanhood in the Millerville community and attended the local schools. In 1952 the family moved to Alexandria where Gertrude was graduated from the Alexandria high school with the class of 1953. After graduation she went to Denver, Colo., where she was first employed and later united in marriage to Bill Fisher of Denver.
Gertrude passed away Dec. 20, at the age of 22 years, six months and 10 days. She is survived by her husband, Bill Fisher; her mother, Mrs. Mary Schmidt of Alexandria; four sisters: Mrs. Cecelia Schochtachnieder of Minneapolis, Mrs. Amelia Ellintson of St. Paul, Cordelia Schmidt and Patricia Schmidt, at home, and one brother, Leo Schmidt of Campbell, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Dec. 24 from St. Mary's church in Alexandria. The Very Rev. Theo. J. Wrobel officiated. The pallbearers were: Norbert Schmidt, Darcy Lorsung, Robert Saiko, Merlin Ekman, Ronny Anderson and Richard Hanson. Honorary pallbearers were: Delene Lorsung, Marlene Lorsung, Millie Kluver, Shirley Lambertz, Bernice Zacher and Margaret Klein.
