U.S. Veteran Victor Carl Perkins, 88, of Iola, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Windsor Place in Iola.

Vic was born January 30, 1926, in Gas, Kansas, the son of Ralph H. and Veda M. (Abbott) Perkins. He graduated from Iola High School in 1944 and served in the U.S.

Army for 23 months during World War II. On June 6, 1948, Vic married Maxine Kramer in Iola. They have always made their home in Iola.

Vic worked at LeHigh Portland Cement Company a year before attending Iola Junior College. He worked 4 years at Fritz Auto Supply Store before beginning his career with the City of Iola. He was a bookkeeper for the city 5 years before serving as City Clerk

34 years. He also served as treasurer for U.S.D. 257 for 22 years. His memberships include Wesley United Methodist Church, Iola Rotary Club and Iola American Legion.

His wife of 66 years: Maxine Perkins of the home, 3 Daughters: Janet & husband, Herb of Savannah, GA, Marsha & husband, Larry of Iowa City, IA and Debra & husband, David of Iola, KS. 6 Grandchildren: Lisa & husband, Micah, Eric Galloway, Sarah & husband, Damian, Natasha, Christen, and Jason & wife, Lindsey also 2 Great Grandchildren: Ryder and Julian.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
