Charlotte Darlene Bowker was born on January 19, 1939 in Missoula, MT, a daughter of Dewey and Billie (Stewart) Bowker. She was raised and educated in the Missoula, Sandpoint, and Libby areas, graduating from Libby High School in 1956.
On May 27, 1956, Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” O’Brien in Libby, MT. The couple moved to Minot in 1959 where Dick worked as an independent contractor and Charlotte designed many of the plans for the homes he built over 25 years. The couple founded and managed Robbindale Mobile Home Park from 1962-1972. Charlotte and her daughter started and managed Coachman Crafts in Minot from 1980 through 1996. Charlotte was also an active member of the Eagles Lodge Auxiliary where she held various offices including president; she elaborately decorated the club for years, built floats, and competed successfully and won many ritual competitions at the national level. Dick died January 20, 2003.
Ms. O’Brien was an accomplished artist, business owner, with talents that astounded many, from scratch-made model ship building, to stone and brick work, designing solar homes, and in inspiring creativity and dedication in those close to her as her life-long goal.
Charlotte is survived by her son William O’Brien and his wife Olga (Minot), her daughter Linda O’Brien Morrison, White Bear Lake, MN, her sisters Marie Phillips (Shoreline, WA) and Claudia Rardin (Cross Lake, MN), her grandchildren Andrew Widme, Paul Widme, and Denis Charcenko, and three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Isaac and Gunnar.
