Katherine (Kaye) Magee passed away peacefully on February 1, 2011 in Nanaimo, B.C. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Doug, and husband Norm Magee (former MLA). She leaves her three children, as well as grandchildren. She took great delight in enjoying her great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters Margaret Mosher of Liverpool, Nova Scotia and Ester (Don) Crompton of Dundas, Ontario along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Kaye was born in Collingwood, Ontario but spent her early years in Galt, Ontario. It was there she met and married Norm in 1945. The family moved many times and with each move Kaye embraced the opportunity to make new friends and become involved in her new community. In 1967, they moved the family to Red Deer and Norm opened Brand Equipment (IH farm equipment and truck dealership). Kaye called Red Deer "Home", developing strong and lasting friendships. She was active in many charities and enjoyed art, sewing and knitting crafts. She was active in Rotary Ann's. She loved to entertain and a game of Bridge. She and Norm travelled throughout the world. She loved watching sports on TV, especially hockey and football. Her favourite football teams were the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the East and Saskatchewan Roughriders in the West. It was a struggle for her if they were playing against each other. Her motto: "Anything worth doing is worth doing right". Her legacy: Raising a family who understands the value of friendship, an honest day's work, a good laugh, and the ability to rise above whatever adversities greet us.
