RACINE ARGUS 12 February 1880
Death of Henry Morgan
Correspondence Sentinel.
"Saturday afternoon, a dispatch was received in this city, from Oxford Junction, Iowa, announcing the death of Henry Morgan, who left this city about two months ago to take charge of the car shops of that place. Mr. Morgan was an old and highly respected resident of this city, having lived here for about thirty years, and was foreman of the Western Union car shops twenty-five years. His remains were brought to this place on Monday afternoon. The railroad shops closed, the employees attending in a body.
Mr. Morgan was born Nov. 19, 1831, in Aberystwyth, Wales, and came to America in 1835, and located in Portage Co., Ohio. From there he came to Wisconsin and resided in Dane county, and from there he moved to Janesville, where he learned his profession. In 1849 he came to Racine, and resided here up to within two months of his death. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his death, who have the heartfelt sympathy of the whole community, in this their sad bereavement. The cause of Mr. Morgan's death was rheumatism and neuralgia, from which he has been a sufferer for years. The disease was first caused by an accident. Some sixteen years ago Mr. Morgan was riding on a train of cars, when he attempted to jump off while the train was in motion. The result was he fell and his skull was crushed in, and Dr. J.G. Meshem removed four pieces of bone which he now has in his possession. After a hard time Mr. Morgan recovered, but has been troubled with his head ever since until at last death released him from his sufferings."

"February 7 1880 in Oxford Junction, Jones County, Iowa, Henry J. Morgan died from the effects of inflamation of the bowels at the age of 49.
He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Jane Morgan, Racine, Wisconsin. The departed had been for may years a Foreman Car Builder in the service of the W.U.R.R. Co. in Racine and a few months before his death had been appointed master of the above company's new workshop in Iowa. His prospects were very promising and he went there with the intention of transferring his family in the near future to settle there but he caught a heavy cold which proved to be fatal after a week of sustained illness.
The following Sunday his body was borne home to Racine by special train. On Monday his remains were transferred from his home to the cemetery at which time all the shop workers and numerous others came to pay their last respects to their fellow worker and aquaintance. He leaves elderly parents, several brothers, a wife and children to whom the tribulation was harsh and unexpected."
