DAVENPORT — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Fern M. Miller, 79, of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. Her family will greet friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Honoring her wishes, the rite of cremation has been accorded, and private burial will take place at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park. Fern passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at the Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf.
Fern Marie Belz was born Sept. 25, 1935, in St. Ansgar, a daughter of Walter and Marian (Snow) Belz. Fern had provided in-home childcare and was an avid bowler in prior years.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Keith (Maria) Miller, Phoenix, Ariz., Kathy Ellison, Karen (Ray) Lopez and Kim (Dave) Murphy, all of Davenport, Kay (Matt) Rehberg, Omaha, Neb., and Kevin Miller, Davenport; 12 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Lorraine Carswell and Shirley Shiver, both of Georgia; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Eugene, Richard and William; and a grandson, Christopher. May they rest in peace.
Memorials may be made to the family.
