Richard A. "Dick" Bertini, 86, of Pleasant Hills, passed Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1928, in Granville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Filinto "Frank" and Elizena "Elizabeth" (Landini) Bertini

His son, David Bertini; nephew, Alan Bertini; sisters and their spouses, Rita (Lawrence) Nones, Inez (William) Budd and Jennie (Richard) McMonagle; and brother, Geno Bertini, and wife, Nancy.

He is survived by devoted wife, Cecilia (Hoffee) Bertini; loving son John Bertini; daughter-in-law, Jill (Achtzehn) Bertini; grandchildren, Isabella and Jacob Bertini; sister-in-law, Bonnie (McNab) Bertini; nephews and their spouses, Ronald Nones, Larry Nones, Richard (Tina) McMonagle and Keith (Kathy) McMonagle; niece, Trudi Sandi, and husband, Ken; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was a 1946 graduate of Donora High School and a 1951 graduate of Duquesne University with a bachelor's degree in education, completing post-graduate degrees there also in the 1970s.

He served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

Dick was an accomplished musician with his own group and a member of countless others.

He was an employee of the Clairton School District for his entire career serving as a band teacher, school psychologist, and Middle School principal, retiring as High School principal.

A gentleman in every sense, he was devoted to family, education, and music.

He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

Interment to follow in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to The Salvation Army.
