Obituary:

Jake Smith age 73, of Reily Township, passed away in Mercy Hospital of Hamilton, Monday, August 27, 1990 at 3:00 a.m. He was born in Bimble, Kentucky, the son of Hueston and Sally (Mattingly) Smith. He was a member of the Kennworth Avenue Pentecostal Church. He was employed as a press operator for Fischer Body for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Jake was a kind and loving person who enjoyed his family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, whom he married in 1945, in Pineville, Kentucky, Geneva (Merdia) Smith, Oxford; one son Chester Smith, Oxford; four daughters, Darlene Meadors, Williamsburg,Kentucky, Mrs. William (Laura) Schirmer, Oxford, Mrs. Delbert (Cora) Wyatt, Hamilton, Mrs. Ronnie (Doris) Hampton, Oxford; four brothers, Oscar Smith, Bangor, Michigan, Robert Smith, Detroit, Michigan, John Smith, Newell, West Virginia, Elbert Smith, Norwood; one sister Rosalie Valentine, Hammondsville, Ohio; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, seven brothers, and a daughter in law, Teresa Smith.

Funeral services will be held at the Kenworth Avenue Penecostal Church, 719 Kenworth Avenue, Thursday, 10:00 a.m. With Rev. Robert Lowery, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rosé Hill burial Park, Visitation will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials to the Americal Heart Association.
